The Canadian Volunteer Service Medal is awarded to those in the navy, army, and air force for eighteen months volunteer service from September 1939 to September 1945 (summary only). The silver bar or clasp with maple leaf is awarded for 60 days service outside Canada. The obverse side of the medal features seven marching figures representing the male and female services of army, air force, navy and nursing services. The inscription reads: 1939 CANADA 1945 VOLUNTARY SERVICE VOLONTAIRE. The reverse depicts the coat of arms of Canada.

The Inter-Allied Victory Medal was awarded to all who served in a fighting service in a theatre of war operations between August 5, 1914 and November 11, 1918 (summary only) and was always issued with the British War Medal. It was also awarded to members of the British Naval mission to Russia in 1919-20. The multi-leaved emblem is worn on medals awarded for WWI. The obverse features the winged figure of Victory, full length with her left arm extended, and holding a palm branch in her right hand. The reverse depicts the legend THE GREAT WAR FOR CIVILISATION 1914-1919 surrounded by a wreath.
