SYC Facilities Overview

The Shearwater Yacht Club is not just the “friendliest club in the Halifax harbour” but boasts the best locating being nestled behind McNabs Island and minutes from the open waters. It is by far the best location of all the clubs in the metro area and well sheltered from the elements. During the hurricane Juan storm in 2003 our club had the least amount of storm damage to our club member’s boats. Our members have quick access to off-shore cruising and we are only a 30 minute sail to down-town Halifax. The club is located on the Dartmouth side of the harbour and is located at -63 31' 17.13261'' and 44 37' 43.69343''. From the shore we are located just off Pleasant Street at the border of Dartmouth and Eastern Passage, opposite the main entrance to CFB Shearwater. Our club is the only one in the Halifax areas that offers a fully secured entrance that is manned 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

The club facilities have been significantly upgraded over the past 10 years and offer our members many services such as:

• Marina berths for 60 yachts with water on the docks.
• Moorings for 35 yachts.
• Launching ramp.
• Shower and laundry facilities
