Fall Haul-Out 2008

Large Boat Haul out schedule 16 – 17 Oct 2008  Highest tide at approx 0940 (click here for Haul-Out Sequence)

Small Boat Haul out scheduled for Monday 20 - Wednesday 22 Oct 2008 (click here for Haul-Out Sequence)

IMPORTANT!!!

Prior to haul-out boat owners are to ensure that they have:

*          paid all dues

*          presented the office a copy of their liability insurance, and

*          paid the pre-haul-out deposit

On Haul-Out days the office will be open from 0745 to 1030 to receive payments. To avoid a last minute line-up please ensure that these requirements are met in a timely manner.

 Pre-haul-out deposits MUST be paid at the club office or at the bar prior to your boat being brought to the dock. They are:

*          Small boats:          $140.00

*          Large boats:          $200.00

*          Trailer boats:          $ 75.00

Our contracted crane shall not haul-out any boat with a balance owing, or without proof of valid insurance. Once cleared for haul-out the boat will be assigned a time card for the timers launch book. Without exception, owners of boats that are not assigned a haul-out time-card must make crane arrangements for their own haul-out on a date that does not interfere with club haul-out.

Crane operations are our most dangerous evolutions and, for safety, focus must be maintained on
haul-out only. Therefore, the mast crane and haul-out ramp are closed until the crane has secured for the day. The crane will not operate in heavy rain or high winds, but light rain is fine. To maintain safety we must not use speed to stay on schedule. Please ensure efficiency by having everything ready in time for your haul-out.  Boat owners should accompany the crane's rigger during the move. The owner must inform the rigger when the slings are in place and ready for lift. Owners who cannot be there on their haulout day must ensure that someone else attends to represent them. Each boat will need a sizeable crew to attach the crane and handle lines. Please arrive early and stay late to assist others. Dress accordingly for rain or cold so that you may stay and assist for at least half of the day.

All owners are reminded that the mast crane cannot be used while the Sagadore crane is in operation.  Owners are also asked not to store their masts where they will impede movement of the crane or boat trailers.

Owners are also asked to ensure their trailers/cradles are clearly marked with at least the boats name displayed.

Volunteers are needed for haul out of large and small boats.  The positions needed are:

  • 2 operators in the Zodiac for each day of haul outs (Large and small boats)

  • Line handlers on the dock (Large boats) - 2 for each day

  • Line handlers on FDU Jetty and to assist rigger guiding the boat to it's cradle - 4

  • Pressure washer operators, bring wet weather gear, need 2 for 2nd and 3rd day, small boats, 2 for large boats

  • If we have 2 guys dedicated to running the pressure washer, it will ensure that there are plenty of people around to make any last moment moves, like a cradle that has to be moved a foot or so, or assist another owner who is having problems.

Haulout 2007

Small Boat Haulout

Each boat owner or their designated representative is responsible for their own lift.
Prior to the lift ensure your lifting-sling points are well marked.
Also, have extra-long lines ready on the bow and stern to control the boat in the air.
If we are ahead of schedule and bypass your boat you may be charged extra to reset the crane.
It will be a long day so come early and stay to help until the crane is secured.
Remember, your costs are a share of every minute that the crane is on our grounds.
Please wear appropriate protective equipment and dress for the weather.
If your engine will not start let us know ahead of time that you need a tow.
If you cannot assist with the crane work please drop by and help our galley crew.
The new members can drop by and see how well our volunteer teams work.
Anyone who stays all day should please remember to sign the volunteer log book.
A pre-haulout deposit of $125.00 must be paid before a crane card is issued to our timer.
If you owe this deposit, or any other money to SYC, your boat cannot be lifted.
If possible, please arrange payment at the SYC office prior to haulout day.
Barb will also be checking her locked drop-off mailbox at the SYC front door.
Trailer boats wishing to haul early may do so following the large boat haulout.
Trailer boats must pay a $75.00 deposit.

Small Boat Haulout Schedule

MAST STORAGE

Masts must be stored as high as possible on the mast racks. Unless the mast racks are full, only the largest masts or those with RADAR antennas may be stored on sawhorses at the back of the lawn. Please do not store masts on the concrete pads. Spreaders must be removed or folded against the mast. As with trailers, cradles and jack stands, all masts must be labeled with the boat name, owner's name and phone number. This will ensure that the wrong mast doesn't leave the yard with a sold boat.

HAULOUT DATES

    - 22, 23, 24 and 25 October for the small boats with the 26th as a back-up.

The haulout schedule will be finalized two weeks before haulout. Many factors determine boat placement and we work hard to ensure that all members have sufficient room around their boat. Please inform the club office (469-8590) as soon as possible if you plan to:

o        list your boat for sale,

o        undertake heavy work such as sandblasting or painting, or

o        not launch with the other boats in the spring.
