Woman's Skippers Race

This is "The" race for woman to take the helm on the club boats and test their skills against the other women in our club.  The rules are that the boat needs to be helmed by a female however the crew can be a mixed gender.  This series has proved to be a highly competitive race amongst our female racers.

Mini Off-Shore Race

A race that is at least 25 Nautical Miles in length.  A test to endurance and crew commitment.

Single Handed Race

As the title indicates - Only one person per boat.  A true test of who is best.

Frost Bite Race

Ok. It is October, Cold and usually wet - but great fall winds.  This is the last weekend race for SYC.  A true test on the crew's abilities to keep warm at the same time as keeping the boat going FAST.

Halifax to  Petpeswick Ocean Race

This race has all the participants racing down the eastern shore from SYC to PYC.

Around the Islands Race

This race starts as a Bermuda start and whom ever is the fastest boat (based on handicap) around the islands of Georges, Lawlers and McNabbs is the winner.  The order of islands is determined at the skipper's meeting based on wind conditions.  This is a great race to bring out the whole family.

Stru Bowl Race

And the winner bakes the Stew for all of next year's participants.  A really fun and strategic race. Sometimes conducted in Tropical Storm conditions :-)

SYC - Fun Race Series

These races are an "anything goes" type race where the skippers need to hit their objective (such as a bar in downtown Halifax to collect a bar receipt or something) and then race to the finish line.  A combination scavenger hunt and sailboat race all in one.  Skill at racing is secondary to achieving the desired objective.  Fast drinking crew has bode well for the prior year winning boats.  Race Objectives are provided at the skipper's meeting.
